The firms in this guide manage, advise on and move most of the world's invested money. BlackRock alone reported $11.55 trillion in assets under management at the end of 2024, the largest figure ever recorded by an asset manager; JPMorgan Chase, the world's top-ranked investment bank by fees, sits at the centre of global capital raising; and a new generation of electronic brokerages, from Robinhood to XTB, has put a trading account in the pocket of tens of millions of individual investors. This guide maps that world firm by firm: 100 firms in 14 headquarter countries, from the client-owned Vanguard in Malvern, Pennsylvania, to CICC in Beijing and Amova Asset Management in Tokyo.

Every entry carries the same field set: the year founded; headquarters; ownership, parent and listing; assets under management or client assets, dated and sourced; the chief executive, president or chief operating officer, chief financial officer and other chair- and C-suite-level officers by their exact published titles; named investment leadership where the firm publishes it; specialties and strategies; the clients or client categories the firm itself describes; major offices; the official website; the published contact route; and any general email address or headquarters telephone number the firm itself publishes. Where a firm publishes nothing, the entry says so in plain words rather than leaving a silent blank.

The ranking backbone is the Thinking Ahead Institute and WTW World's 500 largest asset managers (published Nov. 10, 2025, on end-2024 assets) for asset managers, and the Dealogic full-year 2025 fee league table for investment banks. Figures reported by firms after those editions — through Oct. 22, 2026 — are used where a firm has published them, and each figure's date is carried in its entry. Three ownership changes define the 2026 edition: Nuveen completed its £9.9 billion acquisition of Schroders on Oct. 1, 2026; Janus Henderson was taken private on June 30, 2026, by a Trian, General Catalyst and Qatar Investment Authority-led group; and Nikko Asset Management has traded as Amova Asset Management since Sep. 1, 2025.

HOW THIS GUIDE IS BUILT

Leadership names and titles are taken from each firm's official site, press releases and regulatory filings, verified in early October 2026 and refreshed on Oct. 22, 2026. Contact emails and telephone numbers appear only where the firm itself publishes them; no address has been inferred from a naming pattern, and no telephone number has been taken from a third-party directory. Assets are stated in U.S. dollars as firms or the ranking sources report them; firms that report only in another currency keep that figure, in that currency, in their Notes, and the dollar cell states the position plainly. Alternatives managers including Blackstone, KKR, Apollo, Carlyle, Ares, TPG, CVC and Brookfield are included as asset managers; hedge-fund-only firms are outside the scope of this guide by design.

WHAT THIS GUIDE DOES NOT CLAIM

Gaps are named, not filled. No general contact email is published by 96 of the 100 firms — they offer contact forms or function-specific inboxes only — and 63 publish no headquarters telephone number. The chief executive is not publicly named at 2 firms (E Fund Management and Greenhill), the chief financial officer at 38, and 66 firms publish no investment-leadership role (independent advisory boutiques, in the main, publish none by design). No U.S.-dollar assets figure is carried for 38 firms, which report in another currency or not at all; their local-currency figures stand in their Notes. Leadership in this industry changes frequently; titles were verified as of October 2026 and should be re-checked before use.
